There are some libraries in Cameroon’s big cities, such as the National Library in Yaoundé (Bibliotheque Nationale du Cameroun) or university libraries in Yaoundé, Douala and Buea. The villagers, however, have no possibilities to go to the libraries. With our project, we want to give as many people as possible access to the libraries in the country. We offer literature in three languages (French, English, German) from all subject areas – from classical literature to non-fiction and youth literature.

On site, you can read the daily newspapers and some magazines, including Cameroon Tribune and Le Messager. For the illiterate, we want to offer regular courses to improve their reading and writing skills. The students can concentrate on their homework or planning school projects in our libraries. The textbook lending system will also be set up at a later stage of the project.
